Pupil Premium Information

Pupil Premium is an additional amount of money allocated to schools on a 'per pupil' basis for any child who has been eligible for Free School Meals at any time during the preceding six years.

Because of the established link between deprivation and educational underachievement, this Grant is aimed at giving schools additional resources to ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds do not miss out and can achieve like everyone else.

There are three categories of children that quality for a Pupil Premium Grant (PPG):

  • Children who are eligible for free schools meals (FSM);
  • Looked After children; or
  • Armed Forces children.

It is for schools to decide how the PPG is spent as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils at their school.  Because we know that some families choose not to apply for Free School Meals, despite being eligible, we reserve the right to use our funding to help any child who we feel would be at a disadvantage if we did not do so.

It is our aim that pupils eligible for PPG funding at Langtree School will have standards of attainment and progress, and engage in all aspects of school life, at the same level or above as the rest of the school.  We will use the funding provided to target support to enable this to happen.
