Governors
All primary, secondary and special schools are accountable to their governing bodies or Boards who should, in partnership with the school leadership, determine and articulate a clear vision of where they want the school to be in three to five years' time. It should promote high standards of educational achievement for the school by monitoring the work it undertakes, and report to interested parties and the wider community via, for example, the school web page. Governors take their duties and being appointed to public office very seriously and every September, at the first meeting of the Board, review and agree their 'Code of Conduct, which includes 'The Seven Principles of Public Life' (see link below). Details of our Governing Board appear below.
UPDATE June 2019: Following the recent resignation of Parent Governor Anna Lewis, the school is pleased to welcome parent Dawn Woodall as a replacement to fill the vacancy. Dawn has two children who attend our school and has close links with counselling support services. Thank you to two other candidates who nominated themselves and so willingly took part in a very well supported whole-school vote. The school is very much looking forward to working with Dawn, and is also very grateful to Mrs Lewis for the support and commitment she was able to devote during her Term of Office.
UPDATE October 2019: Following a recent change of governor category which created a Parent Governor vacancy, the school is pleased to welcome parent Ruth Gilbert as a Parent Governor. Mrs Gilbert has three children who attend our school and has close links with the armed forces. The school is very much looking forward to working with Ruth, and is grateful to her for her support and enthusiasm for both Langtree School and its governing body.
UPDATE September 2020: As is usual at the beginning of an academic year, the governing body opens the appointments of Chair and VIce-Chair of the Governing Body to any governor who would like to step into the role. This year, following the resignation of Mrs Taylor-Coleman due to commitments to her own business and family, the school is very pleased to welcome Mrs Kaye French as Chair of Governors, and Mrs Helen Tucker as Vice-Chair. Both governors have children at the school and work locally in the field of education, bringing with them the ability to see education from two very different aspects (as parents and as school leaders). We feel sure Langtree Community School will benefit from both!
LANGTREE COMMUNITY SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY Governors must act, and be seen to act, impartially. All members of the governing body are required to complete a Declaration of Business Interests at the first meeting of the academic year as, where a governor has any interest in a matter to be discussed at a governors’ meeting, either pecuniary or non-pecuniary, the governor must declare their interest and withdraw from that part of the meeting. Governors have read and adhere to the joint LDP Babcock/Devon County Council Governor Code of Conduct which incorporates ‘The Seven Principles of Public Life’. |
